The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is watching two areas in the Tropics, a tropical wave near South Florida and a New Depression in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. NHC started issuing advisories on tropical depression 7 on Tuesday afternoon.
The satellite shows the tropical wave over Florida and the Bahamas circled in orange. It will still dump some rain over the region as it moves into the Gulf.
What to Expect
NHC says that once it enters the area highlighted, it will get a 40% chance that it could develop into a depression or a storm over a period of 5 days. The Louisiana coastline and Texas should monitor it carefully.
A New Depression
As of Tuesday afternoon NHC began issuing advisories on Tropical Depression 7. It is circled red in the above satellite image.
Where is it headed?
High pressure to the North and the Trade Winds to the South will push the depression west aiming it towards the Windward Islands. It may increase to tropical storm status on Wednesday and be named "Gonzalo".
Any Roadblocks?
The system may run into shear, or very strong upper level winds, that could weaken it. Unsure if the shear will be strong enough to have a major impact once it enter the Caribbean Sea.
We'll be watching
