Potential Storm 7

As you've heard me say many times, "waves can grow quickly or fall apart just as fast", the one we've been following over the Bahamas has now been upgraded to Potential Storm #7.  It may become a depression later tonight or early Monday.

This is the official forecast cone from the National Hurricane Center. The system will be traveling over very warm waters giving it enough fuel to intensify. The upper level winds that were keeping it in check have weakened substantially.   It has a chance to turn into a depression over the next 12 hours, and maybe into Tropical Storm "Gordon" in 24 hours.

As it stands, heavy rainfall and gusty winds are possible for parts of the Bahamas and all of South Florida including the Keys starting overnight.

  • Tropical Storm Watches are now in place shown in the areas highlighted in yellow.
  • The Gulf States will need to monitor this system as it could grow stronger once in the Gulf of Mexico.
